I am a Maths, Physics, and Computer Science tutor with over a decade of experience. I have a PhD from Royal Holloway University of London, which was on an experiment aiming to detect dark matter in the universe. I have experience tutoring students of all ages, from elementary school to university level. Whether it is basic arithmetic or advanced calculus, I have the skills and knowledge to help my students succeed. Similarly, I have tutored Physics, Maths and Computer Science at a range of levels, from introductory courses to more advanced topics such as quantum mechanics and machine learning. It is my fundamental belief that tutoring should not only prepare students for exams but also nurture a genuine interest in the subject. In subjects like Maths, Physics, and Computer Science, where problem-solving is at the heart of learning, students thrive when they can actively engage with the material rather than simply memorise formulas or methods. My aim is to make lessons dynamic and enjoyable, using real-life applications and creative problem-solving to show students how these subjects connect to the world around them. This approach is particularly effective for building confidence in students who may initially lack enthusiasm or have struggled with traditional teaching methods.

I recognise that every student learns differently, and one-on-one tutoring provides the perfect environment to tailor each lesson to the individual. I take time to assess a student’s strengths, weaknesses, and preferred learning style, and I adjust my teaching accordingly—whether that means breaking concepts into smaller, manageable steps, introducing extension problems for high achievers, or incorporating visual and interactive techniques for students with ADHD, dyslexia, or dyscalculia. The goal is always the same: to help students gain a deep understanding of concepts so they can apply their knowledge flexibly, even in unfamiliar or challenging exam questions.

I particularly enjoy guiding students to discover ideas for themselves, encouraging them to question why methods work and to make connections between topics. When time allows, I help students derive key results or formulas, fostering a sense of ownership over the material. This deeper understanding not only leads to higher grades but also equips students with critical thinking skills and resilience—qualities that benefit them well beyond their exams.

When tutoring online, I ensure the same level of quality and engagement as in-person sessions. I make use of interactive whiteboard by sharing my iPad screen so problems can be solved together in real-time. I also digital quizzes, and shared documents so that students can actively participate rather than passively listen. All noted then get uploaded onto a Google Drive folder that is available to access for these students at any hour.

Majority of my students have achieved significant grade improvements through this approach, including those preparing for GCSEs, A Levels, and university entrance exams.

I have completed a PhD in experimental particle physics, researching the direct detection of Dark Matter using the LUX-ZEPLIN underground experiment in South Dakota, USA. This experience not only deepened my understanding of Physics but also gave me access to a wealth of knowledge and problem-solving skills that I now bring to my students. After completing my PhD, I transitioned into tutoring full-time, which allows me the flexibility to combine my love for teaching with my passion for travel.

Over the past few months, I’ve been living in Mexico, Guatemala and Colombia, exploring new cultures and landscapes and having become fairly fluent in Spanish! I’m an avid traveller who loves hiking, camping, and being immersed in nature. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy playing the ukulele, watching football (I’m a big Arsenal supporter!), and spending time outdoors whenever I can.
